Lolaark Vision Prototypes

Our prototypes are currently configured for underwater cameras and can clean up live video streams. We achieve visibility improvements that can triple or quadruple the visibility radius in highly murky water. We achieve this unique performance by harnessing the power of sophisticated mathematical algorithms and graphics card units. However, additional work is needed to improve performance in enhancement quality, suppression of clutter, and increase applicable frame rates to make the product suitable for 4K/60fps cameras not only for underwater environments but for land and sea navigation even under adverse conditions. This is our vision in Lolaark Vision.

Lolaark Vision Live

This prototype is configured for inspection of structures inside seaports, lakes, and other turbid water bodies. Lolaark Vision Live implements our algorithms to enhance visibility in live underwater videos for resolutions up to 720p. Best results are achieved if the video feed is available in raw or with minimal compression.

Lolaark Vision Offline

Lolaark Vision Offline is designed to become a very useful companion for underwater surveyors, marine archaeologists and biologists, oceanographers, forensic investigators, pipeline inspectors, and civil engineers for bridge and dam inspections. This utility works on video footage, single or multiple photos with only a few clicks to select the best fitting settings with the help of a preview window. The GUI is easy and simple to use.

  5. Supports most standard video formats a PNG, JPG, and BMP image formats for inputs. Video output format is limited to just mp4 at this stage.
  6. Works for videos up to 4k resolutions, and can easily be upgraded to work with 8k resolutions.

Development Goals

With all the merits of our technology, we still are in the early stage of prototype development. We have achieved excellent real-time performance for 720p videos at 25 fps. However, most modern sensors nowadays are using either 1080p or 4k cameras. We plan to upgrade our computational algorithms to process 4k videos in real-time.

We also plan to develop our technology for processing stereo pairs of video feeds in real-time. Stereo pair videos are captured using two cameras some distance apart (like the pair of our eyes). Stereo vision is very important to achieve accurate depth perception, which is needed in many applications such as navigation of autonomous vehicles and photogrammetry. We should be able to achieve these upgrades in the next two to three years.
